Asia Pacific region salary news: planning for projected 2009 increases |
| 12 November, 2008 - When budgeting for 2009 operations in the Asia Pacific region, HSP clients would do well to take into account recent projections for salary increases. They are surprisingly high, especially against a background of slowing economic growth in the region. Inflation is a key reason salaries in the region are predicted to rise faster in the coming year. Several prominent compensation firms have projected that pay will jump by a median 8% in 2009. against a median increase of 6.7% in 2008. The labor market continues to be tight in countries such as China, India and Vietnam - especially for highly skilled workers.
